HDMI output provides the highest level of video & audio quality while combing both video & audio into one cable. On a modern plasma/LCD/OLED, if your picture defaults to 16:9 ratio, you may need to adjust the display settings on your TV to output the originally intended 4:3 ratio, unless you prefer to play in widescreen (stretched).
Q&A:
NeoStore: I tested one of the systems and the picture really is fantastic, really like the HDMI feature. Can you please explain the function of the switch on the back. Like what happens when you click up or down.
KPJ (Neotropolis): Glad you like the results! The mod is really nice. The back switch rocks up or down. Clicking up cycles through the available resolutions (dependent on TV/monitor), clicking down changes regions (PAL/NTSC).
KPJ (Neotropolis):There is a RGB to HDMI encoder installed inside the console. The encoder grabs the raw RGB/Sync signal of the AES console and upscales it to HDMI (720p/1080p). It may produce lag depending on your television set. I do not notice any on my TVs, nor do I have equipment to catch/read/detect a possible delay. I've sold many of these consoles and have never had a customer complain, but again, your set may differ from mine. I have read that if there is a delay when upscaling (any devices), you can set your TV to 'game' mode and it will help/fix the lag.
